Well, your Z is almost 20 years old. If you drive her in the winter, and in the rain, you may have this underlying problem too (RUST). Especially in the seasonal states. I blame this on the tube that runs from the T-Top area to the lower rocker panel, by the rear DS/PS wheel well. Rust central. If you see some rust ther, it is going to spread FAST! Don't wait, don't cover it with a side skirt, repair it asap! Unless you want a major issue on your hands. This is a video documentary of the rust treatment that I plan to annihilate and repair.
This is my first Z that I bought in 2000, and my "learn" car, to prepare me for any issues on my 91 TT. I taught myself to weld recently, so body repair will be next. I implore you to invest in repair tools, and teach yourself how to do these repairs. The tools will save you money from expensive shop fees in the future.
This is one of many videos that I will post on Youtube, to document my repair process. I am also replacing the front headlight basket area on this Z as well.
